University and Values
Idente Charisma
On October 27, 1997, the Diocese of Loja transferred, for an undefined amount of time, the administration of UTPL to the Asociación Id de Cristo Redentor, Misioneros y Misioneras Identes, to manage it with total autonomy in line with the Idente spirit.
The Idente spirit focuses on identifying with and following Christ, and living and witnessing, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, a filial awareness that considers the Father as a model of holiness.
Id Association of Christ the Redeemer, Identes Missioners
It is a religious institution founded in Tenerife (Spain) by Fernando Pardal Rielo in 1959. Today it has a great international presence with more than seventy houses distributed throughout twenty-one nations, with each house working in close collaboration with dioceses where these missioners live.
University Missions
It constitutes the central axis in the promotion, coordination and supervision of the true spirit of the Catholic University of Loja(the UTPL) in its constant search for truth.
In the UTPL, Missions means the voice of the Gospel and service that together create opportunities for people, as a community, to reach their dreams and fulfill the ideal of “restoring humanity”. This encourages the university community to engage in critical thinking and active participation in cultural events and forums, such as:
Tomás Moro Humanities Prize:
Annual event that recognizes among students, staff and teachers, those who stand out for their humanistic spirit, reflected in characteristics and personal experiences of solidarity, leadership and research.
Solidarity Campaigns:
Ongoing activity that involves the large university family in donating clothes, medicine and food for people in need, as well as books and other instructional materials for various schools.

Days of reflection:
A time for reflection, which brings together the entire university community to address issues related to the personal and professional development of teachers, focusing on Christian humanism twice each semester.
Idente Mission of Eastern Ecuador:
Annual activity whose purpose is to evangelize and serve the people of the communities in eastern Ecuador.
Idente Mission Ecuador:
Annual activity whose aim is evangelism and social action in the country’s most vulnerable communities, and at the same time, creating a social awareness in Latin American youth.
The UTPL has run this activity in Ecuador since 2004. Annually, the Mission involves the participation of about 300 youths from Ecuador and other Latin American countries.
