School accreditation

On June 30 in 2008, UTPL was accredited as a Quality University by the National Council for Accreditation of Higher Education in Ecuador (CONEA - Consejo Nacional de Evaluación y Acreditación).

The accreditation recognizes institutional improvement programs developed by the university as part of its institutional management, and highlights scientific research and its links with the productive sectors through its Centers of Investigation, Technology Transference, Consulting and Services (CITTES- Centros de Investigación,TechnologÍa, Transferencia, Extensión, y Servicios).

In 2009, it also received, from the CONEA, the A rating that certifies the UTPL as a Quality University.

Similarly, in fulfillment of Mandate 14 ofthe Constituent Assembly in May 2009, a technical team from CONESUP carried out an academic, legal, and administrative assessment of the UTPL. The technical team's report established the UTPL as being in full compliance.

UTPL has achieved international accreditation of four of its schools:

Architecture

Architecture was the First school in the UTPL to be accredited by the Mexican Council for Accreditation of Architectural Education (COMAEA - Consejo Mexicano de Acreditación de Ia Ensenanza de la Arquitectura).

The Mexican agency officially awarded the UTPL's School of Architecture accreditation for the period August 2010-]uly 2015, making it the only accredited international school among 18 Mexican schools.

Social Communication

In November of 2010, the School of Social Communication received international accreditation from the American Council for Accreditation of Education in Journalism (CLAEP- Consejo Latinamericano de Acreditación de la Educación en Periodismo).

With this international accreditation, the UTPL’s School of Social Communication is a pioneer in Ecuador and is one of only 16 higher education programs accredited by the CLAEP.

Accounting and Auditing

The Systems and Services Certification (SGS- La Certificadora de Sistemas y Servicios), presented the certification and accreditation ISO 90001-2008 to the School of Accounting and Auditing, granting it a Quality Management System, which is aimed at providing high quality education to undergraduate and graduate students in this field.

The SGS Group is the largest organization in the world in the field of inspection and quality assurance, operating in 140 countries through its network of affiliated companies with over 850 offices, 340 laboratories and 59,000 employees.

Electronics and Telecommunications

In May of 2011, the UTPL’s School of Electronics and Telecommunications received the certificate for a program in its first stages from the evaluating agency GRANA, which is part of the Latin American Consortium for Education in Science and Technology (ISTEC),

This recognition provides a strong impetus for the School of Electronics and Telecommunications. The school aims to receive the certificate for a mid-stage program in 2 years and for an advanced-stage program within 5 years. Once this goal has been achieved, professionals can opt to pursue graduate and/or postgraduate studies.
